About Us

Welcome to Mira Con Amor Yoga Retreats, where mindful travel meets connectivity.  We offer a curated travel experience where travellers make lasting connections while helping local communities thrive.

Our guests not only enjoy much-needed time out in beautiful surroundings. They also make a difference to their travel destination. They support budding local businesses and help them grow. Just by choosing the retreat destination. All our teachers and therapists are local to the region of our retreat and very skilled in their field.

Mira Con Amor was inspired by a graffiti sign at a viewing point looking over the Pacific Ocean in Miraflores, Lima which invites all visitors to ‘’Look with Love’’.

Social changes such as the rise of the solo dweller and the surge in social networks, combined with an aging single population, are changing the way we interact with each other. Almost half of UK adults say that their busy lives stop them from connecting with other people.

The concept of mindful retreats was inspired by a study on volunteer work which identified striking benefits from giving. It turns out that if you want to live longer, you should be a giver. The link between better health and helping others identified by the study is striking. Giving:

  • Lowers rates of depression and puts us in a better mood.

  • Lowers the risk of dying by at least 22%.

  • Is good for our mental health.

We’re hardwired for social interactions which includes a lot of touch, eye contact and smiles. Such interactions release a hormone called Oxytocin which helps us bond and care for others and helps us manage stress. Not only that, but doing good makes us happier which, in turn, makes us healthier.

And so, Mira Con Amor Retreats was born.

Our Mission is to help travellers connect with our venues, the local communities and each other and lead with love. They will be enjoying the well-being benefits of our fantastic hand-crafted itineraries all the while contributing to the greater good of the communities they are visiting!

Why Bulgaria?

Our choice was simple. Our founders are Bulgarian and prolific retreatgoers ourselves. We thought, Why Not Bulgaria?" We have it all, the sea, the mountains, the beautiful nature and talented teachers.

We have teamed up with a range of local businesses which love the opportunity to host our guests. We support an organisation of Moms of Children with special needs, and we do all that in a country which is perhaps less known and not anyone’s first thought when they think of a retreat.

Bulgaria is a beautiful country in Southeast Europe, with ancient history, known for its hospitality.  Bulgaria is the only country in the world, which saved its Jews during World War II. Bulgaria is one of the oldest countries in Europe. It is also the only one, which never changed its name since its establishment in 681.

Plovdiv, Bulgaria’s second largest city is the oldest constantly inhabited city in Europe. For most of its 8,000-years-long history, it was known as Philipopolis. The capital Sofia is the second oldest, with an estimated age of approximately 7,000 years. For comparison, Rome is approximately 2,800 years young and Athens was established 6,000 years ago

Bulgaria is the second richest in natural mineral springs country in Europe, stepping down only to Iceland. Therefore, Bulgaria is every SPA lover’s paradise!

The Bulgarian Rose Valley produces approximately half of the world’s rose oil. The rose oil is extracted from a species called Rosa Damascena (Damask rose). It is an essential component in the cosmetics industry. The Bulgarian Rose Oil is a Protected Geographical Indication.

Bulgaria’s natural border to the East, the Black Sea, features pristine sandy beaches and high-rising rugged cliffs. The coast is also home to great biodiversity.

It’s the perfect location for our retreat!
